Support Groups

WUMC has many small groups that meet throughout the week. These groups are designed for intimate sharing and mutual support. If you have questions, please contact the group leader listed below, or email office@wallingfordumc.org for assistance.

Support Group for Children of Aging Parents

This group is for folks with one of more aging parents/in-laws who need a safe space to talk about the ups and downs of care-giving, death, and dying. The Support Group meets every other month in members’ homes for a meal and conversation.

Contact Sue Sherbrooke or Nancy Speer for more information.

Women’s Group

The Women’s Group is for women – single, married, partnered, gay, straight, and beyond – to gather and share the joys and upheavals of life. The Women’s Group also hosts occasional social gatherings and church events where spouses, partners, and friends can join in.

The group usually meets twice monthly on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month at 7:15PM at the church (please note that there are no meetings in August). Contact Karen Hansen for more details.

Men’s Group

The Men’s Group is a place where all men (straight, gay, married, single, and beyond) can gather to study and share more about life. All are welcome to join in this group, which meets twice monthly.

The Men’s Group meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays at 7:00PM  in the church library. Contact Doug Conrad for more information.

Alcoholics Anonymous/ Narcotics Anonymous

If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction, you are welcome to join in the 12-step Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings that take place in the church. There is no need to register for these meetings, so just plan to show up.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meets every Thursday at 7:00PM in the Adult Ed room (use the side entrance on the west side of the building). Please note that this particular meeting is for men only. Find out more about AA’s program and find meetings for women at www.aa.org.

Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meets every Wednesday at 7:00PM in the Adult Ed room (use the side entrance on the west side of the building). Find out more about NA’s program and find other meeting information at www.na.org.

Prayer Chain

If you need prayer support for yourself, a family member or friend, or general prayers for a specific concern, please contact Pastor Ann at the email address below. There are no meetings of the Prayer Chain, but the members of the group are covenanted to pray for any requests sent to them by email. Find out more here, and email Pastor Ann at pastor@wallingfordumc.org.
