Ash Wednesday: February 14, 2018
Ash Wednesday (the day that marks the beginning of the Lenten season, the period of 40 days leading up to Easter) is coming up on February 14. Our Lenten theme this year is “It’s Time!” – time for renewal, time for change, and time to address those places in our lives that keep us from fully living into love.
Come to WUMC on Ash Wednesday for any or all of our three services. From 11:30AM-12:00PM, the sanctuary will be open for prayer and ashes will be imposed. From 12:00-1:00PM, we’ll be giving Ashes-to-Go up on 45th Street. Swing by quickly on your lunch break to receive the imposition of ashes. Finally, we will host an Ash Wednesday service from 7:00-7:45PM. This is a service of setting the scene for our Lenten theme, receiving the imposition of ashes, and being sent, with hopes and prayers, on our way as we begin our journey through the next 40 days to Easter.
Lenten House Churches
As Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, so will our Lenten House Churches gather once again for the study and discussion of writings and more, relating to our Lenten theme, “It’s Time!”
We are looking for hosts who will open their homes for a small group for five or six meetings between Ash Wednesday and Easter. All participants will be provided a booklet of readings, from which sharing can take off. The groups can be scheduled for whichever time or day works best for you, and may or may not include food.
Please let Pastor Ann (email@example.com) know if you’d be willing to host a group. The general participant sign-ups begin next week. Thanks for volunteering!
