Membership at WUMC carries the privilege of commitment and the opportunity to contribute to the life of our church through gifts of finances, service, and other gifts. Below are a few different ways that you can participate in giving at WUMC. Please contact Pastor Melissa Ramming (melissa@wallingfordumc.org) if you have questions about how your gifts are used or other information.
Giving Financially
Financial gifts help to keep WUMC running. Your donations help with everything from building upkeep to ministry expenses to staffing. WUMC keeps its finances transparent and makes an annual report to the conference and to the congregation about how gifts are used.
You are welcome to bring offerings (check or cash) to place in the offering plate on Sunday mornings. Gifts can also be mailed to 2115 N. 42nd Street, Seattle, WA 98103.
You may make contributions to WUMC online via this link. Contributions can be debited automatically from your checking or savings account. To set up your automatic contribution, click the link above, then "Create Profile," and follow the onscreen instructions to create your profile and schedule your withdrawal.
Giving of Time & Talents
There is a place for everyone to contribute to WUMC's ministries. Bring your time and talent to one of the areas listed below, or contact Pastor Paul to find the perfect place for you to serve.
WUMC has many diverse ministry opportunities. You are welcome to give of your time and talents to any of these areas, including Social Concerns, Sister Parish, Reconciling Ministries, Men's and Women's Ministries, and more.
Our kids' ministries - Children's Music Group, Sunday School, Creative Process, and PrimeTime - can always use extra hands. Volunteer once or on an ongoing basis. Contact our director of Children, Youth & Families for more information.
Sunday morning services require many hands and hearts to keep them moving. Serve as a liturgist, Scripture reader, greeter, or office volunteer to participate in this important weekly event.
Other Neat Ways to Give
It doesn't take much to give creatively. Below are some unique ways that you can support WUMC in your everyday life.
Do your online shopping through the UMC Market. The online market features shops like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Groupon. You shop for the things you'd normally buy through the UMC Market, and a portion of your purchase is donated back to WUMC - easy as pie! There is no cost to sign up for the market. Visit www.umcmarket.org to sign up and do your shopping.
Support WUMC with the PCC Scrip Card. Purchase a pre-registered scrip card for $20 at WUMC and use it to pay for your groceries at PCC (the card works just like a gift card). When your card is empty, reload it to continue paying for your purchases. WUMC receives 5% of all card reloads, and it doesn't cost you extra!
Bring your contributions of non-perishable food to the church at any time of year and WUMC will take them to the food bank for you!
Dear members and friends,
What comes to mind when you think of Wallingford United Methodist Church?
A place of worship and refuge during difficult times?
Spirit-filled services, Melissa’s thought-provoking sermons and intellectually stimulating Adult Ed classes? Or hearing Christopher lead us in a shouted AMEN! at the end of the children’s message?
Hearing the joys and heartbreaks of a community prayers every week in service?
Inspiring music under Zach’s direction, from our choir and special musicians and basking in the glow of Zoe’s postludes and all-around excellent musicianship?
Do you think of our community – the long-time friends and acquaintances you’ve made at WUMC, with whom you connect on Sundays and beyond?
The joy and satisfaction through giving to our wider community – care kits and sandwiches for unhoused neighbors, providing financial help and gift cards for El Dios Viviente UMC, El Salvador/Sister Parish friends, our ongoing LGBTQ-Plus missions, our support of James Place for unhoused youth, and most recently, helping furnish Clover Place in support of Seattle’s Downtown Emergency Service Center? Our ministry that is the Wallingford Child Care Center has been a vital part of our ministry for over 50 years. Through service, we serve God’s people and our lives are enriched!
Do you think of our (aging but sturdy) building, – and the grounds that surround it?
WUMC is all of this and more – and these are ways the spirit moves through our community.
The month of May begins our annual fundraising pledge campaign. Thank you for your past and current support – both for your volunteer work, and for your financial gifts. Your gifts have kept the church going year after year – our staff and their salaries/benefits, routine maintenance of the church and parsonage, program support and more. We set and maintain a budget based on the pledges made by you, the church. Please think about what WUMC means to you, and consider increasing your annual pledge, or if you’ve yet to make a pledge, consider a monthly gift.
If you’re newer to WUMC or churches, you may not realize that we don’t receive support from the United Methodist church. In fact, we pay monthly apportionments for Conference overhead. We stand on our own in terms of staffing, the buildings and other costs, This requires financial support for our entire community. Most members and friends give through electronic transfer systems, either through our trusted service provider, Vanco, or through bill-pay services through their bank or credit union. These options allow you to set the cadence and amounts. We accept gifts of stock through the Faith Foundation. And, of course, we accept cash and checks! More information is below or you can contact us for further details.
Again, THANK YOU for all you do with and for WUMC! Please do consider increasing your pledge (costs have increased!) or if you haven’t pledged in the past, consider making a pledge.
